Fund raising for Stockport Samaritans
Posted: Monday April 4, 2011Although Stockport Samaritans receive a grant from Stockport Council Social Services towards their maintenance, this only covers a part of their annual costs. These include rent and maintenance on office premises which are rented from the Council, and the costs of running the service. The largest of these is the telephone charges, but they also need to cover office expenses, the costs of regular training for new and existing volunteers, and contributing to the travel and attendance costs for conferences and meetings.
To cover these extra costs they must raise about £7000 a year from donations and fundraising activities. It is always a great help to the branch when volunteers helps with fund raising.
CBC have teamed up with the Samaritans to organise a Grand Raffle which will take place on 29th April 2011. It is hoped that the raffle will raise over £2000.00 for this wonderful organisation.
There are three prizes: A pair of tickets to see James Taylor at the MEN Arena, a 40-inch flat screen television and a family meal for four at Turquoise Restaurant in Cheadle. Anyone wanting to buy tickets should contact Jon Becker on 07980 518452
